@WORK Spotlight-
Seventy-five Year Old Starts Business & Wins Big!

At the age of 76 Sadie should be crocheting, working a jigsaw puzzle, or reading her Bible in her new home in a Senior Community. Instead Sadie Denson is going to work at her manufacturing kitchen that she started (with her children) when she was 75. Sadie, her daughter Denise Hains and daughter-in-law Tyra Denson started Rebecca's Foods in 2004. Starting off with a bang, Sadie and the girls won Best Dessert at the 2005 Western Foodservice and Hospitality Expo.

Rebecca’s Foods is named after Sadie’s mother, Rebecca. Rebecca had seven children and taught them all to cook and bake. She was meticulous about preparation and using quality ingredients. Sadie, Denise and Tyra have taken those skills and customized them to fit their needs.

Rebecca’s Foods currently produces all natural and organic scones and cookies, by hand. They freeze, package and ready them for market. All of their products are shipped nationally in special packaging that allows them to arrive at your door frozen and uncompromised. Rebecca’s Foods currently sells their products to tea rooms, coffee shops, bed and breakfast inns and gourmet grocers across the country and you may even find them at a Costco in southern California conducting product demonstrations. Their products are even available for fundraisers. But, they are not stopping there. They plan to introduce their All Natural Soulful Gourmet Foods into the frozen food market gradually. If Sadie has learned only one thing, it is to start slow and build.

When we asked “What’s different about Rebecca’s Fancy Scones and Cookies? The girls said, “Rebecca’s Fancy Scones are traditional English Scones; a moist, cake-like fruit pastry, hand cut into fancy shapes. Coffee house scones are usually pie-shaped wedges that are dry and crumbly. We use only all natural and organic ingredients. They are perfect alone or slathered with Rebecca’s Imported English fruit curds and/or clotted cream. The cookies are made with all natural ingredients. They are ready to bake (no scooping here). This process makes our scones and cookies perfect for their target market. Everyone is looking for a simpler way to prepare quality, all natural food for their customers, guests and families.Well, Rebecca’s Foods has arrived. Give them a call or stop by their kitchen and try a sample.

Note: Starting May 1st, all of Rebecca's Fancy Scones will be organic.
